Brewing news Hungary: CEDC acquires Hungarian beer importer

Central European Distribution Corp., a beer and spirits importer and distributor, said on June 12 it has agreed to purchase Bols Hungary, a Hungarian beer importer, from owners Remy Cointreau SA and distiller DELB BV, AFX and Associated Press communicated. Financial terms were undisclosed.

The purchase includes ownership of the Royal Vodka trademark. The deal is expected to close mid-July and will add to Central European's 2006 earnings, according to the company.

Shares of CEDC rose 86 cents, or 2.5 percent, to $35.87 during morning trading on the Nasdaq. The stock has traded in a 52-week range of $31.56 to $44.85.
